We are glad to announce our partnership with ARM Research Labs, LLC, a company that offers one of the best commercial spam-detecting softwares: Message Sniffer (SNF).
It's an intelligent anti-spam scanner that uses advanced pattern recognition and collaborative learning technologies to accurately identify spam. The engine is multi-platform running on Windows, Linux and BSD systems. A unique, downloadable spam database is available via subscription and is updated multiple times daily by spam analysts and intelligent monitoring systems.
Overview
SNF consists of two main parts: a pattern-based email content analyzer and an IP reputation system named GBUdb.
The combined power of a real-time collaborative IP reputation system and an adaptive content analyzer with frequent
rulebase updates ensures that SNF captures more than 98.5% of spam without additional tuning.
eWall supports both these features and, working together with SNF, doesn't require any maintenance:
the SNF updates are downloaded and installed automatically. Moreover, eWall uses a lightspeed TCP-based
protocol to communicate with SNF server so testing each email or IP address takes only a few milliseconds.
How to install
You can download SNF executables from ARM Research Labs, LLC web site and install them yourself or take the easy road and have the eWall installation
wizard download and install SNF for you. After installation, open the eWall Control Panel, select
Options -> MessageSniffer tab and enter your "License ID" and "Authentication" parameters. Click "Test SNF" button
to make sure everything is OK. If you want eWall start SNF server at startup (recommended),
enable the "Attach to eWall service" option.
How to use
If you create a new eWall agent using the wizard, and select "Message Sniffer" among other protection options, the
necessary filters will be created automatically. If you add Message Sniffer to an existing agent, you need to make
two simple filters, shown below. If everything is configured properly, you will see the SNF results in your eWall logs.
